Utah Jazz: 300-1

It feels just like the Utah Jazz, now entering their fourth full season because the Deron Williams transaction changed the roster’s frame, should have obtained the proverbial next step by now.
Derrick Favors should have morphed to an elite warden of the paint, Enes Kanter should have become a constant starter and Gordon Hayward–he of the hefty four-year, $63 million contract–should be knocking on stardom’s door. Instead, the improvements are marginal, the progress fraught with setbacks.
Fortunately, another wave of gift is ready to overtake the one which showed up shortly following the Williams deal. Frenchman Rudy Gobert will turn into the next Roy Hibbert, also Dante Exum may be Utah’s next superstar.
Or, both may struggle through the very same fits and starts as Kanter Favors and Hayward. You can never be certain.
1 comforting certainty: Alec Burks is a bad guy. Along with I am scared by a second: Quin Snyder.
If Tyrone Corbin was hindering progress, maybe his dismissal will change matters. New head coach Quin Snyder has proven some innovative touches throughout the preseason, and the Jazz are becoming better appearances. Even though they’re still shooting roughly 19 threes per game (right across the number they taken last year), they rank sixth among all preseason squads in long-distance accuracy with a cool 37.1 percent.
The second wave of this youth movement begins this season. There will be no title talk, and the playoffs are a pipe dream. But there’s no shortage of potential.
