Mike Perry Free Breakdown
Perry brings big power on the feet and a durable style to embrace brawls. He can be outmanoeuvred by specialized boxers but against the likes of Ponzinibbio, a top aggressive striker for the branch, he was very aggressive. Perry is strong from the clinch but his takedown defense remains unproven against a legitimate grappler. Cowboy could exploit the ground game as he’s underrated wrestling, but he tends to fight with inconsistent gameplans. Getting sucked into brawls is a frequent problem and here against Perry that could be a big mistake. He’s got large electricity himself but both guys are quite hittable. On the toes it probably favours Perry, at least to the first half of the fight when he’s most dangerous. Look for a back and forth war, with all the durability of Perry making the gap — as both men absorb deep damage.Andrei Arlovski Breakdown
Arlovski is on a 3 fight losing streak but has been competitive in all fights going way back to his KO loss to Ngannou. In 40 years old that he brings a not as aggressive fashion nowadays that has lead to six consecutive choices. His output seems to be slowing but his exact boxing style stays, allowing him to function behind a jab against slower opponents. Sakai is considerably younger so could be advancing, but so far has failed to impress. He’s big and yells powerful yet slow singular strikes, with reduced volume. Primarily a boxer, Arlovski will not need to be worried about too many different weapons.
This is likely to be a gradual struggle with the more effective striker coming out on top. Start looking for Arlovski to prevent exchanges and poke Sakai in the exterior or utilize his wrestling to hold him against the fence. If he can avoid getting caught a determination here is likely for the underdog.
Bet = Arlovski in 2.30 (+130) chances. Risk 3 Units to acquire 3.90 Units.
Virna Jandiroba Breakdown
Jandiroba is a severe BJJ blackbelt which makes her UFC debut with a 14-0 record. She has jiu-jitsu wins over both Claudia Gadelha and Amanda Nunes. Whilst limited with striking, she’s constant with takedowns and has a wide array of techniques to acquire fights to the ground. On top she is quite solid, keeping control and attacking subs. That is obviously a large step up in competition by Invicta against Esparza, a true veteran. Carla is on a losing streak against fellow grapplers and has not displayed great takedown shield to coincide with her wrestling skills. She’d be best to attempt to keep this fight standing where her enhanced striking should be able to edge out volume.
Jandiroba isn’t proven at this level but seems like the real deal, displaying exceptional technique and composure. Worst case situation Esparza can defend off her back and create scrambles to force dramatic exchanges, taking us to a close decision. A much better situation is Jandiroba dominating with her high control and procuring a unanimous decision or finding a submission. An Esparza finish is quite unlikely. Given the odds and various paths to success, a shot to the newcomer at money is good value.
